Annual Sports Lunch
May 2018:
The 2018 Cappagh Hospital Foundation’s Annual Sports Lunch took place at the InterContinental Hotel, Dublin on Friday, 11th May with five of Ireland’s greatest sporting stars across GAA, Soccer, Swimming and Rugby in attendance – Bernard Brogan, Kenny Cunningham, Brian Kerr, Gary O’Toole, M.D., and Keith Wood. Hosted by Darragh Maloney, these sporting legends took to the stage to discuss some of their most memorable sporting moments.
Cappagh Hospital Foundation’s 30th Anniversary Sports Lunch attendees were not only celebrating the 30 years of the CHF but also supporting Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital and Cappagh Foundation’s strategic objectives, including but not limited to the purchase of a Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner.
Professor Steve Eustace of Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital said: ‘”The purchase of this dedicated Orthopaedic CT scanner will introduce revolutionary new treatments for musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. “
Injuries and conditions that can affect any of us at any age- young or old.
Speaking at the event CEO Orla Gilroy said: “Last year’s 2017 Sports Lunch raised an incredible *€35,523 net. This support assisted the purchase of the Stryker Navigation Assisted Systems and Software for scoliosis corrective surgery. In 2017 scoliosis surgical activity in Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital increased by 50% compared to 2016. This included a higher number of paediatric surgical cases, some of these cases were the first in Ireland to be treated with the Stryker Navigation Assisted Systems and Software. The support of everyone at this lunch will enable us to move towards our goal of purchasing this state of the art CT Scanner for the CNOH that could enable medical staff to reduce the wait and trauma for some patients.”
A BIG THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US!
